7/3/2023 0 Comments Be here ram dass![]() ![]() Across planes of consciousness, we have to live with the paradox that opposite things can be simultaneously true. We’re fascinated by the words–but where we meet is in the silence behind them. The dance goes from realizing that you’re separate (which is the awakening) to then trying to find your way back into the totality of which you are not only a part, but which you are. You just love until you and the beloved become one. When we see the Beloved in each person, it’s like walking through a garden, watching flowers bloom all around us. Suffering is part of our training program for becoming wise. The quieter you become, the more you can hear. Once you get to your soul, then every person you look at is a soul. When you know how to listen everybody is the guru. The next message you need is always right where you are. Our whole spiritual transformation brings us to the point where we realize that in our own being. Our actions and states of mind matter, because we are so deeply interconnected with one another. We are all affecting the world every moment, whether we mean to or not. Start from where you are – not where you wish you were. He passed away not too long ago yet his message of mindful living continues onwards, with many positive quotes found on social media profiles around the world. Ram Dass was a popular spiritual teacher and is best known for the Be Here Now book combining yoga philosophy and eastern spirituality. ![]()

7/2/2023 0 Comments Stone fruit comic![]() ![]() At turns joyful and heartbreaking, Stone Fruit reveals through intimately naturalistic dialog and blue-hued watercolor how painful it can be to truly become vulnerable to your loved ones - and how fulfilling it is to be finally understood for who you are. Taking a leap of faith, each opens up and learns they have more in common with their siblings than they ever knew. As their emotional intimacy erodes, Ray and Bron isolate from each other and attempt to repair their broken family ties - Ray with her overworked, resentful single-mother sister and Bron with her religious teenage sister who doesn't fully grasp the complexities of gender identity. Their playdates are little oases of wildness, joy, and ease in all three of their lives, which ping-pong between familial tensions and deep-seeded personal stumbling blocks. Bron and Ray are a queer couple who enjoy their role as the fun weirdo aunties to Ray's niece, six-year-old Nessie. An exhilarating and tender debut graphic novel that is an ode to the love and connection shared among three women and the child they all adore. ![]() 7/2/2023 0 Comments The dream machine waldrop![]() During the government's time as a high-tech sponsor in the post-war period, computer development went on a brilliant tear. ![]() ![]() As these books inadvertantly prove, the government has historically been a far better enabler of innovation. We see trench warfare through Alec’s eyes in letters he writes to Maurice. When Alec sees he can’t remain with Maurice, he joins as an infantryman in the Royal Welch Fusiliers. They enlist together, but as Maurice studied at Cambridge and is considered upper class, he’s made an officer. They plan an idyllic life together away from society, but then war breaks out. ![]() After misunderstandings and confusion, Alec and Maurice acknowledge their love for each other. Pea and Margot's big project is finding a way of making Maman happy again. In the French summer, the two girls run wild, while Maman is too busy lying down, tending to her own grief to worry about food and clothes for her living children. She and her 4-years-old sister Margot try to make a life for themselves in the aftermath of Papa's death, and their pregnant Maman grieving him and a child she recently lost. The prose is deceptively simple, as the story is told by Pea who is 5 and a half.
